Suicide: Let's Talk About It
This week is National Suicide Prevention Week. Suicide is one of those things most people don't talk about, which is ashame because it needs to be discussed openly. We've been doing that all week. Ourmental health bloggershave been covering all different aspects of suicide, including sharing their personal stories. On ourHealthyPlace Facebook,TwitterandGoogle+sites, hundreds of people have been talking about everything from why people commit suicide and what it feels like to survive a suicide attempt to losing a loved one to suicide. I want to invite you visit our blogs and social sites and share your personal experiences and opinions.
Suicide takes the lives of nearly 30,000 Americans every year. If we don't talk about it openly, how can we, as a society, do things / make changes to prevent it?

Bullying and Suicide
Too many adults still see bullying as "just part of being a kid." It is a serious problem that leads to many negative effects for victims, including suicide. Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims.
From Wednesday night's X Factor, this is the impact bullying has on our children.
